<h2>We’re pretty chuffed to be recognised as one of the top digital industry players at the 11th Annual Lovie Awards for our work for BBC Earth and BBC Studios Productions.</h2>
Guerrilla was announced as a Bronze Lovie and People’s Lovie Winner for the Television and Film—Websites category for <a href="https://www.bbcearth.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">BBC Earth.</a> We also received a shortlisted entry for <a href="https://productions.bbcstudios.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">BBC Studios Productions</a> in the Corporate Communications—Websites category.
It&#8217;s an achievement we are extremely proud of, with this year’s awards attracting nearly 1000 entries from 30 countries and almost 55,000 votes cast in the People’s Lovie Awards.

The <a href="https://www.lovieawards.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Lovie Awards</a> may not be well-known in Australia, but in Europe, they recognise an array of digital talent. Owned by the international <a href="https://www.webbyawards.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Webby Awards</a>, which have been honouring digital talent for the last 20 years, the Lovie Awards bring together Europe’s best digital work.
Guerrilla is no stranger to the Lovies, <a href="https://guerrilla.com.au/news/global-doctor-who-website-wins-at-europes-lovie-awards/">receiving both a Lovie Award and People’s Choice Lovie Award in 2018</a> for our work on <a href="http://doctorwho.tv/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">doctorwho.tv</a>, the global brand website for Doctor Who and also <a href="https://guerrilla.com.au/news/europe-lovies-our-work-for-bbc-earth/">being shortlisted in 2017</a> for the BBC Earth global website.

<h2>Gold Coast Airport is getting a place-lift and our work to promote the multi-level terminal expansion is now live. The opening of this major infrastructure upgrade will be well-timed with the reopening of borders, re-connecting our region to the world.</h2>
This three-level 30,000 sqm game-changer doubles the airport’s current size and connects seamlessly with the existing terminal. The expansion will feature four new glass aerobridges and an expansive 18-metre-high departure hall, setting the scene for an improved customer experience. There’s also room for 19 large aircraft to whisk travellers away or bring friends, family and visitors from abroad.
The terminal expansion is an essential part of Gold Coast Airport’s ongoing development. Around 2,000 jobs have been created on the ground as part of the project — hundreds more than originally expected. The open, light-filled design of the expanded terminal with a timber-decked forecourt is a space that’s been thoughtfully designed to share the same laid-back spirit as the region itself.

We developed a refreshed brand style and campaign to launch the airport’s major 2022 terminal expansion. The dedicated <a href="https://expansion.goldcoastairport.com.au/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">terminal expansion landing page</a> offers a preview of what&#8217;s to come next year for the airport, providing key facts and renders of the new building. It’s just the beginning of a multi-phased marketing campaign, in the lead up to the 2022 open.
Partnering with Gold Coast Airport on this major development has been an exciting journey with positive impacts for the region and travellers alike.

<h2>Over the last year, we worked in close partnership with the Gold Coast Titans to develop their refreshed logo and brand, strategically aligned with the Club’s future direction.</h2>
To signal the team’s transformation, we developed a brand strategy, refreshed logo and brand that encapsulates their energy and ambition — both on and off the field. A completely redesigned logo underpins the refreshed look and feel, delivering a more contemporary visual style that reflects the Titans of today, while also helping to attract a broader cohort of league-loving fans.
As a Gold Coast agency, we took great care in reimagining our home team’s brand, while taking the club on the journey with us. It was an intensive but enjoyable experience involving more than 30 participants over several months of work. The Club’s owners along with key stakeholders including members of the Board, Mal Meninga, Justin Holbrook, the NRL, and the Club’s members and fans were involved.
We identified the heart and soul of the Titan&#8217;s brand purpose to inform the redevelopment of its logo, voice and brand style. With a focus on being strong, bold and heroically intimidating, their new mark is intended to invoke fear in opponents and pride for fans. By opting for clean, simple colours and shapes, the logo has been modernised, offering a more contemporary look.

More than a logo, the Titans have an entirely refreshed identity and narrative for the club going forward — informing how they engage with their members, fans, the local community and partners. Through this, the Titans are aiming to inspire and engage Rugby League fans across the country and from around the world.
Founded in 2007, the Gold Coast Titans are one of the National Rugby League’s youngest clubs. And following a change of ownership in 2017 — as well as an impressive end to the 2021 season, which saw head coach Justin Holbrook lead the team into the finals — they&#8217;re looking ready for a bright future.
This refresh will be the first new look in the Club’s relatively short history. However, it’s just another evolution of the sport within the local Gold Coast and Northern Rivers region — with a history that goes back to the game’s foundations over 100 years ago.

<h2>Imagine not being able to identify the sound of coins jingling in your pocket. That’s exactly what happened when Elliot Miller went for a jog shortly after getting his Cochlear implant.</h2>
Fast forward to 2021 and after founding an auditory training company called <a href="https://www.games4hearoes.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hearoes</a> designed to tackle this challenge, he’s just taken out the 2021 <a href="https://luminax.com.au/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">LuminaX</a> Founder of the Year award.
We couldn’t be more proud of Elliot and as part of his prize for winning the award, we’ll be working with him to deliver $20K worth of services to take his business to the next level. He’ll also receive 12 months of coworking space and business support at Cohort Innovation Space.
Elliot will be working together with us to define and execute a strategy to propel him on his journey to becoming a HealthTech success story.

Elliot was one of ten accelerator participants as part of a 14-week HealthTech Accelerator Program. The accelerator program attracted Australian Healthtech startups that are launching or refining existing products, providing them with a structured industry-led programme and access to connections, mentoring and coworking space.
Hearoes provides an accessible auditory training platform, to empower those with hearing loss through gamified and engaging activities to identify new sounds.

The platform works closely with clinicians and provides a series of specialised activities to help participants distinguish sounds in different environments. Using a learn by play philosophy to track progress, Hearoes allows for additional time to be spent where development is needed.
The award is another exciting win for Hearoes, which just months ago secured $190,000 from global venture capital firm Antler during a pre-seed round.

Giving heroes a head start to success

<h2>We’re happy to announce that our partnership with UnitingCare Queensland has received an honourable mention at the 2020 Sitecore Experience Awards. This award comes as recognition for our work redeveloping UnitingCare Queensland’s website.</h2>
<a href="https://www.sitecore.com/customers/experience-awards" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Sitecore Experience Awards</a> recognise the top digital brand experiences across the globe that drive the greatest business impact using Sitecore.
With the recent merger of several brands, <a href="https://www.unitingcareqld.com.au/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">UnitingCare Queensland</a> enlisted our help to consolidate their websites and content management systems to create one uniform website to help those in need. As one of Australia’s largest charities, UnitingCare Queensland helps those at all life stages, spanning more than 460 locations and employing 17,400 staff and 9,200 volunteers.
After an extensive research phase, UnitingCare Queensland determined the need to better educate and empower the community when making healthcare choices through its online platform. The website rollout was complex with over 50 leaders from UnitingCare Queensland consulted to gather input, images and content.
UnitingCare Queensland was seeking a customer-focused marketing platform designed to help link visitors with the services they need. With a variety of websites on multiple content management systems, UnitingCare wanted to combine these sites to create a simple and seamless customer experience.
“We needed to make their journeys more connected and customer-centric,” Dan Shaw, Manager of Group Digital Marketing for UnitingCare Queensland said.
“We aimed to create a nice, clean, simple, easy-to-use website to either give people the information they need or to fast-track them into a service centre,” he said.
Guerrilla took UnitingCare Queensland’s existing websites, which acted as corporate brochures laden with complex terminology and created interactive tools to guide customers to the right services through deep UX research and design.
The website required broad accessibility delivered through informed user experience design, content personalisation and seamless user journeys for people in a variety of life stages. The website had to cater for many user types, whether it be a young person needing help after leaving school or someone requiring support for ageing parents.

Whilst we appreciate the recognition the award brings, it’s creating a simple customer experience for those in need that we’re most proud of. UnitingCare Queensland supports many Australians in need and now <a href="https://www.unitingcareqld.com.au/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">their website</a> provides a level of support reflective of the care they provide for the community.

See what we’ve done before

<h2>Simple yet brilliant, Hey Duggee is the absolute epitome of great design and storytelling. So it’s no surprise that the show keeps going from strength-to-strength. To help them get even stronger, we were asked to refresh their global website, <a href="http://www.heyduggee.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">heyduggee.com</a>.</h2>
The episodes are only seven minutes long. The frog is a green triangle with eyes. They play classical music. And they teach kids to be responsible. Simply put — it’s brilliant. And audiences agree, with The Guardian calling it ‘peerless’. The show’s also won multiple awards, been adapted into a book, spawned a plethora of merch, and released an incredibly popular song about a stick (there’s even a 2018 FIFA World Cup version).
We’ve seen this success before. In fact, <a href="https://guerrilla.com.au/work/bluey/">BBC Studios came to us about another dog</a> that captured the imaginations of children around the world — Bluey. And just like the Brisbane-based pup, Duggee and his pals are encouraging kids to engage in positive activities. This approach has seen the show commissioned for three series (126 episodes!), and distributed to multiple countries, including Ireland, France, the US and Latvia.
However, international exposure also means more global fans — and more website visitors. To give all of these new, and returning, guests the best experience, BBC Studios asked us to refresh Hey Duggee’s global website.
<pre>And thanks to our rich history of working on digital projects for the British production company (especially Bluey), we knew exactly how to translate the Hey Duggee magic online.</pre>
Just like the show, our solution was minimal but incredibly impactful. We placed our users’ experience at the very centre — a surprisingly complicated task when you have two very different audiences: children, and their parents. Nowhere was this user-focused approach expressed more than the online store. The page is now so easy to navigate, even Duggee’s youngest fans can find their favourite Squirrel Club products (they should get the card holder’s permission before any purchases, of course).

It seems audiences love the refresh, too. For the month before launch, over 18,000 users viewed just under 63,000 pages. Even though visitors dropped by 1.05% after launch, page views increased by a staggering 30% — resulting in a total of 81,941. It meant that people were exploring the site more, visiting an average of 3.24 pages per visit (compared to 2.51 for the month before launch). They were also staying longer, with the bounce rate decreasing by 16.45%.
The final product — and the reception it&#8217;s received — makes us incredibly proud. But Duggee is just a glimpse of our work with BBC Studios. In fact, we&#8217;ve also just launched global websites for the wonderful <a href="http://www.sarahandduck.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Sarah &amp; Duck</a> and the energetic <a href="http://www.gojetters.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Go Jetters</a>. No matter what fantastic brands we&#8217;re working with, we’re incredibly grateful to give them a digital place to call home.

<h2>Hit children’s TV show Bluey is gearing up to go global following the launch of its official website, now live at <a href="http://www.bluey.tv" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Bluey.tv</a>. The website comes with Bluey’s premiere on Disney Junior and Disney+ later this year, following a global broadcast deal between BBC Studios and Disney.</h2>
<a href="https://guerrilla.com.au/work/bluey/">We designed and developed the site</a> in close collaboration with both Ludo Studio and BBC Studios, working hard to craft a site that would bring the show to life online.
We loved working on this project, the show is fantastic, and the team at Ludo Studio and BBC Studios were a delight to work with.

A Brisbane-born juggernaut, Bluey has made waves across Australia since first airing on October 2018. Written, animated, directed and produced under one roof by Ludo Studio, the show is a record-breaker for the ABC, racking up over 100 million views on ABC iView, making it the most-watched series ever on the platform.
Bluey is produced by the Emmy® award-winning Ludo Studio for ABC KIDS and is co-commissioned by ABC Children’s and BBC Studios. Both series received production support from the Australian Government through Screen Australia and Queensland Government through Screen Queensland.
BBC Studios and ABC Children’s recently announced a second series commission for Bluey, due to make its television debut on ABC KIDS and ABC KIDS iView in 2020. The series also received the award for Most Outstanding Children’s Program at the recent 2019 TV Week Logie Awards.

The show is set in Brumm’s real-life hometown of Brisbane, and has been lauded by critics and audiences alike since its release.

These awards come in recognition for our work on <a href="https://doctorwho.tv" target="_blank" rel="noopener">doctorwho.tv</a> — the global brand website for Doctor Who.</h2>
An offshoot of the Webby Awards, the Lovie Awards are Europe’s premier digital awards, recognising excellence within the digital industry. The mission of the Lovie’s is to honour the most unique and resonant digital creatives across a wide span of categories and fields. Recipients range from publishing agencies, to culturally significant organisations and individual creators. The 2018 edition saw 1500 entries from 33 countries around the world, and garnered over 55,000 public votes in the people’s choice categories.

Taking a universally recognised entertainment brand that’s been in existence for over 50 years, and reinvigorating its online presence to align with a significant series release is no mean feat. We approached the task with a focus on UX, while adapting the refreshed brand online for the newly released series.
This project marks the continued success of our partnership with BBC Studios — a client we’ve had the pleasure of working with for over 8 years. We’ve developed a range of websites in Europe and around the globe for them throughout this period, and the results have been a consistent high-point for us as an agency. Last year, <a href="https://guerrilla.com.au/work/bbc-earth/">our work on the BBC Earth global website</a> garnered similar attention in the European market, being shortlisted in the 2017 Lovie Awards.
It’s a truly rewarding experience to see our strength as an agency represented in such a tangible way. Australians can be forgiven for not knowing the <a href="https://www.lovieawards.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Lovie Awards</a>, but we’re pretty sure the international <a href="https://www.webbyawards.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Webby Awards</a>, celebrating the best in digital for more than 20 years, rings a bell? Owned by the Webbys, The Lovie Awards is all about Europe, honouring a vast breadth of internet goodness — from Europe’s top web and creative networks to bedroom bloggers.
Though not finalists, we were shortlisted in the ‘Television Websites’ category in 2017 for <a href="https://guerrilla.com.au/work/bbc-earth/">our work on bbcearth.com</a>, and that’s enough to make us feel pretty chuffed.
With nearly 1,500 entries received from 33 countries, the Official Shortlist distinction was awarded to just 17% of all work entered. What’s more, only four websites hit the top of the ‘Television Websites’ category, so just being noticed is an honour.

You guessed right — we’ve done the third. And the news is, Australia’s leading professional marketing association has nominated us for the 2017 Awards for Marketing Excellence.
What makes us proud to spill the news even more is that <a href="https://guerrilla.com.au/work/bleach-festival/">our work for Bleach* Festival 2017</a> has brought us the nomination in the Not for Profit Marketing category.

Being right there from the get-go in 2012, we know the Bleach* Festival inside-out. But a loyal partner-agency comes with its own challenges — having to reimagine the look and feel of the festival each year, communicating its evolution as the city’s peak cultural event. Luckily, big challenges and ambition is what our team is driven by.
So what was so special about our work for Bleach* Festival in 2017?
The Bleach* Festival program explored the relationship between sport and art — emotion and motion. In both sport and art we experience profound and transformational moments that create life long memories and connections to our greater sense of humanity. From this, we developed a creative and visual approach that spanned art and sport through the use of aerial performances, captured with high-speed cameras, enhanced in post-production. This exciting creative approach provided an evocative visual style for the Festival that’s distinct while being abstract enough to allow individual interpretation — building intrigue and excitement.
Knowing we&#8217;re helping build the Gold Coast&#8217;s cultural identity and creative industry is rewarding enough, but another award wouldn’t hurt, right?

<h2>To mark the ‘One Year to Go’ milestone before that well-known sporting event officially kicked-off here on the Gold Coast in 2018, Surfers Paradise held an event with expected fanfare.</h2>
Whether you’re a sports fan or not, the monumental sporting event was a big deal for the City, its people and local businesses.
As part of the celebrations we were fortunate enough to be involved in an artistic performance that took place on an eight metre square vertical wall — In collaboration <a href="https://bleachfestival.com.au/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Bleached Arts</a> and renowned Sydney theatre company <a href="https://www.legsonthewall.com.au/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Legs On The Wall</a> we were commissioned to develop the eight minute animation that became the canvas on which the artists performed.

With a tight production timeline and an interactive design medium we’d never encountered, we took inspiration from circa 80s video game graphics and audio to create a visually striking yet playful animated canvas for the performers to work their magic. After many iterations in production and hundreds of hours editing and rendering, the result was fantastic with crowds enjoying every minute.

<h2>So I finally made it — my last semester of university. I’m feeling a mix of emotions, but I am obviously bursting with excitement as my final days of study approach. No more all-nighters finishing assignments that I could have started earlier, no more struggling to stay awake in lectures and no more pricey textbooks that collect dust on my shelf until exams. I’m almost done!</h2>
Then it dawns on me. In under three months I will have a degree, I’ll be an adult and I’ll need a job! With next to no hands-on experience, I was incredibly thankful to find out that Work Placement was a core subject at university, and with that I eagerly started looking for placements.
Fast forward a couple of months, and after preparing endless cover letters and enduring countless phone interviews and face-to-face meetings alongside 200 other eager soon-to-be grads, I decided to source my own internship. I was going off the well-worn path of options provided to us by Griffith University, and I’m so glad I did.
After being asked to meet with Anna Kertesz, the Managing Director of Guerrilla, I spent the week leading up to the meeting stalking Guerrilla’s social media accounts and memorising their website. The informal ‘get to know you’ meeting went well and I was offered a 10 week internship with Guerrilla. I raced to my car so I could take a sneaky Snapchat to let the world know, I am officially an intern.
My first day arrives and I try and calm my nerves with a peppermint tea. I walk towards the cute boutique looking office and as I enter everyone is so welcoming and friendly. I feel a sense of relief.

Once I’ve been introduced to everyone and given a tour of the office I immediately feel less like a timid student and more like an intern.
Having prepared for the classic horror story internship, I was pleasantly surprised that I wasn’t the star of a reenacted The Devil Wears Prada. Thankfully, I wasn’t forgotten about either. With daily tasks assigned such as blogs and checking websites for bugs, I know exactly what I am doing and when I’m supposed to do it. It’s clear, it make sense, and most importantly it keeps me busy.
Sitting in on meetings can seem overwhelming initially but after 10 minutes of my first conference call, I started to grasp what was going on and could actually keep up with the concepts, ideas and discussion had by the client and Guerrilla team members. I do still find myself lost with office jargon sometimes. It seemed to come so naturally to everyone else, but not so much to me, so Google became my best friend.
The Guerrilla office is an incredibly friendly yet professional environment. From the little treats in the kitchen, to the office pets that bounce around your feet all day, it is no wonder that even when everybody is stressed with deadlines and client issues, their smiles and laughs still fill the room. I am only on my third day, and I already love it. I cannot wait to see what awaits for the next 7 weeks.
Well, I’ve got a couple of tasks to tackle so I’m off to prove my worth, but I leave you with 8 of my top tips for interns like me ready to start their first day in the working world:

<li>DO YOUR RESEARCH — Make sure you know who your company is and what they stand for.</li>
<li>GET A GOOD NIGHT’S SLEEP — Yawning during your internship is not a good look, especially on the first day. Your Netflix binge can wait till the weekend.</li>
<li>DRESS THE PART — Smart and presentable. If you have to question it, don’t put it on!</li>
<li>AIM TO ARRIVE AT LEAST 10–15 MINUTES EARLY — Especially if you are prone to getting lost like I am. This time will be a lifesaver.</li>
<li>INTERACT — Try to get along with your co-workers, this will not only make your internship more enjoyable but networking is key!</li>
<li>ASK QUESTIONS — Don’t be afraid to ask questions, whether it be work related or a sneaky opportunity to pick their brains.</li>
<li>TAKE NOTES — Remember the answers to your questions, if you think you’ll forget, write it down.</li>
<li>RELAX — You’re an intern, you aren’t expected to know everything. Don’t forget. You’re here to learn.</li>

<h2>Here at Guerrilla we’re a motivated bunch — driven to out innovate the competition when presented with a challenge — and in 2016 in Sydney, we did just that.</h2>
Nominated by AIMIA as part of the 22nd Annual Amy Awards, <a href="https://guerrilla.com.au/work/heritage-bank/">our work on Heritage Bank’s Loan Calculators</a> earned us a gong for Best Website in Financial Services — a category filled with big names including Westpac Group, Deloitte Digital, Isobar, and Reactive.
Crunching numbers isn&#8217;t admittedly a strong suit for most — a human insight that Heritage Bank understood when they tasked us with making online calculators awesome. How did we make them awesome? We recognised the organic traffic associated with loan calculators was a huge opportunity for the challenger brand — an element critical to the project&#8217;s success. With a strong content and SEO strategy at its core, we harnessed the power of design and technology to transform the user&#8217;s loan research journey into an enjoyable experience, solving a major problem for both our client and their customers. The added bonus? We had fun doing it!

Receiving national recognition for doing what we love is rewarding, but getting to celebrate it alongside Australia’s best and brightest industry players in the creative and technical space? Priceless.
